Women Smiles Uganda brings adaptable and affordable vertical farming solutions to underserved communities. Based in Kampala, Women Smiles Uganda was established in 2018 to disrupt hunger and poverty especially among Women and youth living in vulnerable communities of Africa.


Women Smiles Uganda was recognized as one of the Top 50 Organizations to connect with in Africa by the Tony Elumelu Foundation, won the 2019 Takeda entrepreneurship award, Youth in Agroecology Business Track Africa 2022 award (YALTA), recognized by Obama Foundation,Westerwelle Foundation and One Young World for its efforts to combat hunger, for its contributions to bettering conditions for women, teenage mothers and youth.


For single mothers, women and youth who struggle to access land for agriculture and descent jobs , Women Smiles Uganda provides affordable, ecofriendly vertical farm units, inputs and training to them to grow crops in the limited spaces, produce more healthier foods and save money on buying food and increase their disposable incomes.

Through tailored trainings programs, Women and youth learn everything from a basic understanding of the agricultural techniques, daily management of their crops to dealing with pests and diseases.

Lilian Nakigozi

Founder and CEO

Lillian is an experienced leader, a social entrepreneur who combines innovation and entrepreneurship to make a world a better place for the young people and women. She is a qualified accountant, project manager with experience in business management, agribusiness and product design.Lilian is passionate about women empowerment and entrepreneurship. For her entire life she has dedicated her time, knowledge and skills to provide opportunities for women through different aspects that’s financial education and agro-entrepreneurship training.







Joseph Musambaki

Head of technical team

JOSEPH MUSAMBAKI is the Operations Director and Heads the Production and Technical department. He is an experienced computer scientist with a Bachelors’ Degree in Information Technology and Computing from Kyambogo University, Kampala-Uganda. Joseph is also an Agri-Business entrepreneur with 6+ years’ experience who combines
technology and entrepreneurship
to make Smart Agriculture a profitable business for African youth and women.Joseph is also experienced in various aspects of engineering like setting up
vertical farm units and managing high technological vertical farms.

Gloria Nandawula

finance and administration director

Nandawula Gloria is a professional accountant responsible for preparing annual operational budgets, financial statements for the organization and providing operational support to staff on expenditure management. She holds a bachelors’ degree in accounting and currently on CPA level 4















Edward Kaweesa

Project Manager

Edward Kaweesa ,

Project Manager ,comes on board with 6 years experience in project planning and management. He takes lead in planning, organizing and directing all the completion of specific organizational projects. He is well grounded in the field of leadership,Agroecology, Governance and programmes.

Isaac Matovu

International Coordinator

Isaac comes on board with expertise in Business and Community development with a past experience working with international humanitarian organization in Burundi, Canada and Uganda. He holds a Bachelors’ Degree in Science in Marketing from Makerere University Business School.
Being a humanitarian and supporting communities Isaac has been his passion and he is a self motivated person who likes meet new challenges and experience new cultures.
